In 1989, a friend loaned me a cassette The Trinity Session by this band I'd never heard of called The Cowboy Junkies. "They're from Canada," he said, "and you're gonna love 'em." Well, he was right, and here it is 15 years later, and I love them just as I did the first time I heard Misguided Angel. Thanks, David.
For a while, I lost touch with the band, but I rediscovered them in late 2001 when I stumbled upon their website and met lots of really cool fans there. Oh, and I also caught up on the albums I had missed during that time. When I say met lots of nice people, I mean so literally having connected with many of them at shows in places like Indianapolis, Cincinatti, Nashville, Chicago and Austin, TX.
Some highlights for me have been seeing and hearing David Henry of Lay It Down fame play with them at the Belcort in Nashville and connecting up with fellow fans for a weekend of 4 shows in 2 nights at the One World Theater in Austin. Earlier that week, I saw Bob Dylan for the first time in Indy at The Murat.
These are from Mike Timmins' Tour Diary at Cowboy Junkies. Thanks, Mike!
